Dear Colleagues, Patients, and Friends,
Welcome to the Chicago Radiological Society (CRS) 2023-2024 year! It is an honor to serve as President this year. I am happy to introduce the other members of the board of directors with Dr. Syam Reddy serving as President-Elect/Secretary-Treasurer and Dr. Carla Harmath serving as Vice-President/Program Chair.
As the local chapter of the Illinois Radiological Society, under the umbrella of the American College of Radiology, the CRS remains an instrumental organization for advocacy for radiology and radiation oncology as well as for our patients’ quality access to our services. Through education, advocacy, representation and clinical practice, our members continue to lead radiology and radiation oncology forward. I am in awe of what our members have accomplished through the sharing of expertise and resources, and I endeavor to serve CRS members with the same level dedication that they serve our patients.
Our organization embraces diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment of mutual respect, collaboration, and shared ideas. Our strong advocacy efforts will always be most successful when we have active participation from a wide representation of our community.
We will continue with in person programming this year, and our first meeting of the season will be held on October 19, 2023. Please watch for future emails regarding our programming, as well as educational and social events. The CRS website will be remodeled and updated to keep all aware of our programming and resources. CRS is truly an excellent opportunity for networking and career development for trainees and early career attendings.
Along with the Illinois Radiological Society, CRS is looking forward to sponsoring the 8th annual Chicagoland Radiology Expo for medical students, to be held Spring 2024. Hosted by the CRS, the Expo is open to medical students from across the United States. If you are interested in participating, please email Olga Pasternak, MD at olgapasternak@gmail.com.
The future of radiology and radiation oncology remains exciting. I invite you to explore the values, principles, and priorities that guide our CRS initiatives and learn how together, we can continue to make a lasting impact on the future for our patients and practitioners. We need one another to capture the many innovations, to address the many healthcare challenges, and to monitor changes in regulatory and reimbursement policies. Individuals interested in more information about CRS or serving on a committee should contact the CRS as info@chicagoradiology.org or email me.
Thank you to all of our current CRS members for your dedication and work in advancing the many missions of the CRS. I am excited for a productive and engaging year and look forward to seeing you at our upcoming meetings.
Warm regards,
